Paying your property taxes
Register for Preauthorized Payment
Ratepayers can register for the preauthorized payment program. Your tax account must be current to qualify. The payment plan is available on a monthly or installment basis.

Online banking
You can register for online banking payments with your bank. Contact your financial institution for further details.
Post dated cheques
Posted dated cheques can be dropped off at the municipal building in the drop off slot at the rear of the Municipal Building at 271 Sandwich St. S.

You can review your tax account information online. Following the link below. You must have your access or PIN number available.
This number is printed on your tax bill.

Supplementary Tax Billings due to Assessment Changes
Supplementary tax bills are issued as a result of improvements to your property including additions to a home, and other improvements

Heritage Tax Rebate Program
The Heritage Rebate Program allows for designated properties to apply for a 40% rebate on property taxes; the intent of the funds is to maintain the property in its historical state and provide for improvements etc. The property designation process is handled through Steve Brown in our Building Department and the rebate process is handled through Treasury Office. Application must be submitted to Treasury from Feb 1st to Feb 28th.

Application For rebate of Property Taxes
Charity Rebate Program
To be eligible for the Charity Rebate Program, you must be a registered charity as defined by the Income Tax Act, or be engaged in activities which promote relief from poverty, advancement in education or religion, or any purposes deemed beneficial to the community as a whole.
To apply for the Property Tax Rebate please send a letter to Town of Amherstburg. Include the following information in your letter: Charity Name; Address; Legal Description of Property; Owner of Property; Roll Number of Property and Charitable Tax Number.
You must provide proof of taxes paid to be eligible.
